Lift Mechanic

Job Responsibilities:

The Lift & Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the proper and safe operation of all resort chair, tow and surface lifts, other attractions, and all resort vehicles by completing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions and conducting training for operators.  During summer operations, the Lift & Vehicle Mechanic conducts comprehensive in-house summer maintenance on all lifts and vehicles including snow groomers. As a customer focused organization, a crucial part of each employee’s job is to get and keep guests.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
  • Ensures proper operation of chairlifts and personnel by completing preventative maintenance of APU's, electric motors and line gear following manufacturers' maintenance manuals; troubleshooting malfunctions and training personnel in the proper operation.
  • Must be capable of trouble shooting electronics and electrical portions of chairlift control systems.
  • Ensure proper operation of vehicles and equipment by completing preventative maintenance of all resort vehicles, including but not limited to; trucks, snowmobiles, snow groomers, tractors, mowers, and other small engines.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and repairs of malfunctions and damages in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines and regulatory compliance
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; and checking for overheating
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices, using come-alongs, cranes, heavy equipment, rigging, hand and power tools; examining and diagnosing cause of failure and correcting the condition
  • Maintains equipment, parts and supplies inventory and conserves resources by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate equipment, parts and supplies and using equipment and supplies as needed  to accomplish job results
  • Prepares operational and maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information.  Stores records in compliance with Company policy and applicable state laws
  • Completes summer maintenance and construction by observing and carrying out a variety of tasks required to complete projects
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Must be able to operate all resort vehicles including but not limited to snow groomers, snowmobile, all-terrain vehicles and tractors.

Job Qualifications:
WE TRAIN!

- High school diploma or equivalent. One (3) to five (5) years of automotive maintenance or mechanical background with strong working knowledge of groomers, heavy equipment, small engines, fuel systems, hydraulic and hydrostatic systems. 
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to frequently reach; climb; balance; stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl at times at significant heights and in inclement weather . Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.
