J-1 Employee Coordinator

Job Responsibilities:

The J-1 Employee Coordinator assists the HR Team with the coordination of approximately 25 winter J-1 employees.  Primary responsibilities include being available to mediate J-1 issues and concerns, coordinating J-1 shuttle to and from work, coordinating special trips to the grocery store, social security office, cultural activities, and other activities as requested by the HR Manager.  Assist J-1 employees with any concerns in a timely, professional and enthusiastic manner.  As a customer focused organization, a crucial part of each employee’s job is to get and keep guests.

Compensation includes hourly rate plus free housing in North Conway village December 1, 2019 - March 31, 2020.  This is a part time seasonal position with approximately 20 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Communicate relevant information to J-1 employees before, during, and after their employment at Cranmore, such as: Travel/arrival information, housing information, departure information, required clothing and equipment, policies, procedures, employee events, and other information as needed.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of J-1 employee housing units and provide list of action items for students; follow up as necessary.
  • Conduct weekly check-ins with students (in person or via social media); resolve concerns and issues; report any ongoing issues to the HR team.
  • Coordinate cultural activities for students (at least one per month); attend activities and provide transportation to/from activities; complete documentation including attendance list and photographs.
  • Shuttle students to/from work on a daily basis.  Arrange for an alternate shuttle driver on days off and for emergencies.
  • Follow and enforce all housing rules as defined by landlord and Cranmore management.  Report any rule violations to HR team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee information.
  • All other Human Resources related duties as assigned by the Human Resources Manager, including, but not limited to, reception, responding to internal and external requests for information, clerical administration, filing, ordering supplies, photocopying, collating, sorting mail, and other administrative and support functions as needed.
  • Assist in all company and department training programs as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Contribute to team effort by participating in job sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  • Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor.
  • Flexible working hours; includes holidays, evenings, and weekends.

Job Qualifications:
  • High school diploma and 1-2 years related experience and/or training
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with foreign workers
  • Prior experience with J-1 students is preferred
  • Ability to problem solve and mediate issues among staff
  • Ability to maintain order & professionalism, and confidentiality of employee information
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Physical demands include frequently talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, and driving.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
  • The work environment includes frequent exposure to outside winter weather conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
